[Saba Sports News] India’s skipper Rohit Sharma led his team to victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, finishing unbeaten and securing their first ICC title since 2013.
Following the win, Rohit announced his immediate retirement from T20I cricket, expressing pride in his journey and leaving fans emotional. He also posted a picture on Instagram, lying on the ground with a huge smile, captioned: “This picture epitomizes how I’m feeling right now. So many words, but I can’t find the right ones to express what yesterday meant to me, but I will. Right now, I’m basking in a dream come true for a billion of us.”
India defeated South Africa in the final, clinching the game by seven runs despite Heinrich Klaasen’s onslaught. Rohit credited the team’s tactical brilliance and exceptional bowling for the win.
At the post-match presentation, Rohit reflected on the team’s journey over the past few years, emphasizing their resilience in high-pressure games. “Hard to sum up what we’ve been through in the last three-four years. It’s not just about today, but what we did before. We’ve faced a lot of high-pressure games and have often been on the wrong side. Today was a perfect example of sticking together with our backs to the wall,” he said.
