[Saba Sports News] Rohit Sharma ended his rough patch in the T20 World Cup 2024 with a blistering 92 off 41 balls against Australia on June 24. In the semifinal against England at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on June 27, Rohit joined the elite list of highest run-getters as an Indian captain across formats. Despite India losing two early wickets, Rohit continued his aggressive form.
Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant had underwhelming performances, scoring nine and four runs, respectively. Rohit took charge, scoring 37 runs off 26 balls before rain interrupted the match. During this innings, he surpassed the 5000-run mark as India’s captain, becoming the fifth cricketer to achieve this milestone. Kohli leads the chart with 12,883 runs, followed by MS Dhoni with 11,207, Mohammad Azharuddin with 8,095, and Sourav Ganguly with 7,643 runs.
Rohit has now scored 5,013 runs across formats as a captain, with 1,876 runs in T20s. Remarkably, he has achieved this in just 16 matches. Additionally, Rohit became the first Indian captain to score a fifty in T20 World Cup knockouts.
