[Saba Sports News] Legendary cricketer James Anderson retired after the first Test against West Indies at Lord’s. He played 188 Test matches for England, taking 704 wickets—the third-highest in history. Anderson was a role model for youngsters, choosing to focus on red-ball cricket over lucrative franchise opportunities.
Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar praised Anderson for his remarkable 22-year Test career. Tendulkar, known as the Master Blaster, expressed his admiration for Anderson’s skill, noting that he inspired a generation with his game and professionalism. “Hey Jimmy! You’ve bowled the fans over with that incredible 22-year spell. It’s been a joy to watch you bowl with such speed, accuracy, swing, and fitness. You’ve inspired generations. Wish you a wonderful life ahead with good health and happiness,” Tendulkar posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Many cricketers paid tribute to Anderson on his farewell day. Lasith Malinga called Anderson one of the greatest Test cricketers ever, highlighting his skill and longevity.
“Happy Retirement, Jimmy! Your unparalleled skill and unbelievable longevity are a testament to your dedication and hard work. One of the greatest Test cricketers of all time! Enjoy the next chapter, legend,” Malinga wrote.
