[Saba Sports News] Pakistan T20 captain Shaheen Shah Afridi questioned PCB for their timing to terminate Haris Rauf’s contract.
For the unversed, Rauf was punished for declining to play in the Test series against Australia. Instead, he chose to feature in the Big Bash League 2023-24. As a result of which, he has also denied No Object Certificates to take part in the overseas T20 leagues until June 30, 2024.
Shaheen, who is also the skipper of Lahore Qalandars, talked about Haris Rauf’s contract termination, saying that the PCB will regret making this decision, which he believes has come at wrong time as the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 starts on Saturday.
Rauf is a vital part of Lahore Qalandars and will play in the tournament-opener scheduled against Islamabad United.
“I don’t have much to say about the PCB’s decision. But the timing is such we have a match in one day and the decision just came through,” Shaheen said as quoted to ESPNCricinfo.
“Haris is a mentally strong boy and this won’t affect him hopefully, and perhaps the PCB will also understand making the decision at this time was not correct. Haris is doing fine; he’s always ready to play for Pakistan,” he added.
Lahore Qalandars have won the last two editions of the competition and will aim to keep their streak intact under Shaheen’s leadership.
