[Saba Sports News] The domestic cricket season has kicked off with the Buchi Babu 2024 tournament, featuring several star Indian players aiming to secure a spot in the Test side as selectors closely monitor performances. However, for Mumbai’s Shreyas Iyer, the situation is a bit different.
Due to a lack of domestic cricket participation, the BCCI recently took strict actions, resulting in Iyer’s central contract being terminated. Determined to make a comeback, Iyer is playing in Tamil Nadu’s premier tournament, hoping to impress the board and reclaim both his Test spot and central contract.
During a match between TNCA XI and Mumbai on August 27, Iyer surprised everyone by showcasing his off-spin bowling, mimicking his Kolkata Knight Riders teammate Sunil Narine’s action. Although he didn’t take any wickets and conceded seven runs in his over, his performance added an unexpected twist to the game.
Iyer, who captains KKR in the IPL, is striving to make his mark in this tournament. Meanwhile, TNCA XI ended Day 1 with 294/5 after 90 overs.
