[Saba Sports News] In the ongoing first ODI of the three-match series between India and South Africa at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, a comical event unfolded during India’s batting innings.
In the ninth over of the chase, Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer was at the crease, facing South African left-arm pacer Nandre Burger. As Iyer went for an aggressive pull shot against a somewhat short delivery, he unexpectedly lost his grip on the bat. This caused the bat to soar towards the square leg area, while the ball, taking a top edge, flew over the mid-on region.

Fortunately for Iyer and the Indian team, the ball did not end up in the hands of any fielder, averting a possible dismissal. This incident added an amusing twist to the intense match.
