[Saba Sports News] Zimbabwean cricketer Sikandar Raza has been handed a two-match suspension, sidelining him for the rest of the T20I series against Ireland. Along with the ban, Raza was fined 50 percent of his match fee and received two demerit points, bringing his total to four within a 24-month period, triggering the suspension.
Irish players Josh Little and Curtis Campher were each given one demerit point and fined 15 percent of their match fees. The ICC detailed the charges, stating Raza aggressively charged towards Campher and Little, while Campher was charged for charging towards Raza, and Little for making physical contact with Raza during a match incident.
Despite contesting the sanction imposed by match referee Andy Pycroft, Raza’s penalty was upheld after a formal hearing. Raza had previously been recognized as the Man of the Match for his standout all-round performance, including a three-wicket haul and a top score of 65, in Zimbabwe’s last-ball win.
