[Saba Sports News] Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Simarjeet Singh expressed his gratitude to MS Dhoni, crediting the legendary wicketkeeper-batter for helping him develop as a T20 bowler.
Currently leading the wicket-taking charts in the inaugural Delhi Premier League (DPL) with 15 wickets for East Delhi Riders, Simarjeet praised Dhoni’s deep knowledge of T20 cricket and his simple yet effective advice.
“MS Dhoni has been instrumental in shaping me into a better T20 bowler. No one understands T20 cricket better than him,” Simarjeet told Sportstar. “He has taught me so much. It’s not just one thing; he always emphasizes keeping the game simple, which has really helped me.”
Following the BCCI’s directive for all Indian players to participate in domestic cricket, many senior cricketers will return to their domestic teams, and Simarjeet is eager to learn from them. “I’m looking forward to gaining knowledge when senior India players join domestic cricket. We learn a lot from them,” he said.
As the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction approaches, Simarjeet’s focus is on honing his skills and continuing to grow as a player. “I just want to play cricket and contribute wherever I’m selected. My goal is to improve as a cricketer with whichever franchise picks me,” he added.
As one of the more experienced players in the East Delhi Riders squad, Simarjeet believes the DPL offers a great platform for young talents to make their mark.
“Youngsters often approach me to plan strategies, and I think the DPL is a fantastic opportunity for Delhi players to showcase their talent and earn a domestic call-up,” he concluded.
