[Saba Sports News] Rain played a spoilsport in Durban on Sunday, abandoning the first T20I of the three-match series between South Africa and India.
As already predicted by the weather forecasters, rain offered no respite, falling at the intensity of a drizzle throughout the designated duration of the match. As a result of this, the umpires made a decision to call off the game.
Both sides would have wanted the play to happen as they only have a handful of T20Is left before the next year’s World Cup. India and South Africa will play five and two T20Is before naming their respective squads for the upcoming World Cup.
As far as the ongoing series is concerned, there are still two matches remaining. The Suryakumar Yadav-led outfit will now lock horns with the Proteas in Gqeberha on December 12 before moving to Johannesburg for the final T20I, scheduled on December 14.
After the T20Is, the caravan will move to the three-match ODI series, which will be followed by two Tests.
