[Saba Sports News] According to reports
from British media, Manchester City sponsor Etihad Airways has recently
announced its intention to go public. This development is aimed at assisting
Manchester City in addressing the 115 accusations leveled against the club by
the Premier League. Following a four-year investigation, Manchester City was
accused in February 2023 of breaching 115 financial regulations set by the
Premier League. Reports indicate that the Premier League and Manchester City
have been dealing with various allegations since the autumn of the previous
year. The recent fines imposed on Everton and Nottingham Forest by the Premier
League has increased public pressure on Manchester City’s alleged case. One of
the allegations involves the sponsorship agreement between Manchester City and
Etihad. It is claimed that the airline only paid £8 million of the £67.5
million owed to Manchester City, with the remainder allegedly being financed
through disguised equity. This operation is said to have violated regulations
set by both the league and UEFA. Stock market experts speculate that if Etihad
possesses concrete evidence of fraud, their access to the market may be
restricted. Furthermore, if Etihad executives were found to be involved in
manipulating the sponsorship deal with Manchester City, it could significantly
harm the company’s reputation in the eyes of potential investors.
