[Saba Sports News] Power couple Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul have launched their charitable venture, “Cricket for a Cause,” to raise funds for the Vipla Foundation’s special needs school in BKC, Mumbai, formerly Save The Children India.
They have enlisted cricket legends and current stars like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, and Rohit Sharma, as well as international players Jos Buttler and Quinton de Kock, to donate personal memorabilia for a special auction benefiting the foundation.
For Athiya, this initiative is deeply personal. “Vipla Foundation has been a significant part of my childhood. I spent many days after school teaching and spending time with the children. Through this auction, I hope to continue the legacy of my Nani, who started Vipla Foundation to serve children with hearing impairments and intellectual disabilities,” she shared in a video.
KL Rahul also expressed his motivation for the cause, noting his emotional first visit to the school. “The children inspired me to contribute to this great initiative that Athiya’s family has been part of. The auction is our way of supporting the foundation’s incredible work in providing a nurturing learning environment for children with special needs.”
Currently, Rahul is busy with the Sri Lanka ODI series, having scored 31 runs off 43 balls in the first match. Athiya was last seen in the 2019 film “Motichoor Chaknachoor” alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
