[Saba Sports News] Cricket fever continues as the T20 World Cup 2024 features an exciting fixture between South Africa (RSA) and the Netherlands (NED). The Dutch team had previously caused a major upset for the Proteas in the last edition of the World Cup in the same format.
South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl first, a decision backed by their bowlers as they reduced the Netherlands to 35/4 at the halfway mark. Marco Jansen and Anrich Nortje led the charge, with Jansen taking a wicket in the first over and another in the third. Jansen also made a spectacular catch in the slips, reminiscent of Jonty Rhodes, to dismiss Max O’Dowd and secure another wicket for Ottniel Baartman.
Despite the strong start by their bowlers, South Africa’s batting began poorly, losing Quinton de Kock to a run-out in the first over by Vivian Kingma. Logan Van Beek followed with a maiden over and dismissed Reeza Hendricks. Kingma continued his assault, removing Heinrich Klaasen and putting South Africa at 21/4 in seven overs.
The match is shaping up to be a low-scoring thriller, with the Netherlands aiming for another upset against South Africa in a major ICC event.
