[Saba Sports News] Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib has been fined 15 percent of his match fee and received one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during Bangladesh’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Group D match against Nepal.
The incident occurred on Sunday at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown. In the third over of Nepal’s innings, Tanzim approached batter Rohit Paudel “in an aggressive manner and made inappropriate physical contact”. This is Tanzim’s first offence within a 24-month period.
Tanzim was found guilty of breaching Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which addresses “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator) during an International Match.”
The charge was brought by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Sam Nogajski, with support from third umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal and fourth umpire Kumar Dharmasena. Tanzim admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson, avoiding the need for a formal hearing.
