Sports News] The German Football Association (DFB) has officially announced
that Nike will become the new sponsor of the German national team starting in
2027. The equipment partnership between the DFB and Nike will span from 2027 to
2034, during which Nike will provide equipment for all levels of the German
national teams and actively promote German football. This news signifies the
end of the long-standing partnership between the DFB and Adidas. Adidas, the
current sponsor of the German national team, responded to the announcement by
stating that their contract with the DFB will continue until the end of 2026.
The DFB informed Adidas recently about their decision to switch equipment
suppliers from 2027 onwards. The DFB acknowledged the significance of parting
ways with a partner they have shared special moments with over the past 70
years. However, they emphasized that as a professional sports association, they
must make economic decisions, considering the funding they provide to member
associations and amateur football organizations. According to reports, Nike’s
annual sponsorship amount for the German national team is a substantial 100
million euros, while Adidas currently provides 50 million euros per year in
sponsorship.
