[Saba Sports News] Australia is gearing up for their three-Test series against Pakistan, starting with the first match at Perth’s Optus Stadium on December 14. Ahead of this clash, Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja announced his intention to wear shoes expressing solidarity with the Palestinians during the series. His shoes, bearing the messages “Freedom is a human right” and “All lives are equal,” were noticed during the team’s main training session on December 12, and photos have been circulating on social media.
Khawaja, 36, plans to wear these shoes for the first Test against Pakistan, although it remains to be seen if he will be allowed to, given the ICC’s regulations against conveying political messages through clothing or equipment without prior approval.
As Australia, led by Pat Cummins, enters the series as defending champions, they aim for a strong start. Following their recent World Cup victory, the Australian team is set to face Pakistan, who had a less successful World Cup campaign. Pakistan, now under the new Test captaincy of Shan Masood, looks forward to a challenging series against Australia.
