[Saba Sports News] Continuing his record-breaking run in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), Virat Kohli achieved a special milestone during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) clash with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Eliminator at Narendra Modi Stadium. Kohli, the Orange Cap holder, became the first player to reach 8,000 runs in the IPL.
Kohli has crossed the 700-run mark this season, marking his second-best season as a batter. He is the only player to have surpassed 700 runs in IPL 2024. Kohli achieved this feat in his 244th innings for RCB, having scored eight centuries and 35 half-centuries in his illustrious career. He is followed by Shikhar Dhawan, who has 6,769 IPL runs.
Earlier, Kohli equaled Chris Gayle’s record by surpassing the 700-run mark, a milestone Gayle achieved twice for RCB in 2012 and 2013, while Kohli first reached it in 2016. Although Kohli was in red-hot form, his run was halted by his former teammate, Yuzvendra Chahal.
