[Saba Sports News] The preparations of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction are the final stages as the full list of players, who will go under the hammer on December 19, was released on Monday.
Out of the 991 players, who intended to registered themselves for the IPL 2024 auction, only 333 players could make the cut in the final list. Among these 333 cricketers, 224 are Indians and 119 are foreigners. Out of these 119 overseas players, only two are from the associate nations.
As all the franchises have already named their retentions, a maximum of 77 slots remain to be filled in the auction out of which 30 have been reserved for the overseas players.
The highest bracket, which is of INR 2 crore comprises of 23 players. There are 13 players in the INR 1.5 crore bracket.
The Australia World Cup-winning trio of Travis Head, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc highlight the auction list. Starc last played in the IPL in 2015 and since then, it will be the first time that his named will called up from the auction podium.
As expected, there is no Jofra Archer in the pool of players as he is still rehabilitating from an injury. Harry Brook, who was released by the Sunrisers Hyderabad recently, is likely to be the most sought-after Englishman in the nearing auction.
