$3.222 billion in 2023, highlighting the financial potential and global reach
of the sport. Secondly, both F1 and Audi share a common brand strategy. Audi is
actively pursuing its electrification transformation, and participating in
Formula 1 provides an opportunity to transfer hybrid power unit technology from
the racing environment to their commercially available models. The third factor
revolves around Audi’s engagement with youth and digitalization strategies. The
popular Netflix documentary series “Drive to Survive,” co-produced by
F1, has generated significant buzz and discussion on streaming platforms,
attracting a large number of new fans to the sport. Audi aims to tap into this
digital-savvy audience and capitalize on the growing interest in Formula 1
among younger generations. Lastly, Audi’s entry into F1 is influenced by its
focus on the Chinese market. Currently, China’s first F1 driver, Zhou Guanyu,
competes for the Sauber team, which has a partnership with Audi. This
connection allows Audi to leverage Zhou’s presence and popularity in China to
further strengthen its brand position in the Chinese market.
