Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph will be rested for the
remaining two West Indies T20I matches against England, with Shimron Hetmyer
being left out of the squad.
Hetmyer has been out of form lately; he scored 0 and 2
in the first two Twenty20 Internationals against England and was not included
in the third game in Grenada, which came after he scored 32, 0 and 12 in the
three One-Day Internationals. Johnson Charles, who most recently participated
in 44 Twenty20 Internationals against India in August, takes his position.
Prior to the West Indies’ trip of Australia next
month, which consists of two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is, Joseph has
been granted a break. The fast bowler is expected to play in all three formats.
The first Test of that tour is scheduled for January 17 in Adelaide.
In the second Twenty20 International, Joseph played a
crucial role, finishing with 3 for 39 and taking the wickets of Phil Salt, Will
Jacks, and Sam Curran. West Indies won by 10 runs, but in the third match,
Joseph went for 50 as England managed to chase 223.
For the next two games of the series in Trinidad,
Oshane Thomas, another fast bowler, joins the team. West Indies won the ODI
series and are now leading 2-1 in the 5-match series.
