[Saba Sports News] Recent reports suggest that Zaheer Khan is in talks with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a mentorship role in the IPL.
With Gautam Gambhir leaving after the 2023 season and Morne Morkel departing post-2024, Zaheer might take on dual roles as mentor and bowling coach, pending successful negotiations.
The reports also indicate that LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka is keen on having Zaheer in charge, valuing his ability to bridge communication between players and management.
Zaheer has previously served as a bowling consultant for the BCCI and as a mentor for Mumbai Indians. Although there were speculations about him joining the Indian team as a bowling coach under Gambhir, the role eventually went to Morkel.
Zaheer is highly regarded for mentoring young pacers during his playing days.
If the deal with LSG goes through, Zaheer will have the chance to work alongside head coach Justin Langer and other experienced staff like Adam Voges, Lance Klusener, and Jonty Rhodes.
There are also rumors of another prominent coach joining LSG, though details remain unclear.
