[Saba Sports News] Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has issued a suspension to international players Wesley Madhevere and Brandon Mavuta, effective immediately, for alleged violations of anti-doping regulations. As a result of these charges, both players are barred from participating in any cricket-related activities until the completion of a formal hearing process.
The charges against Madhevere and Mavuta are based on the ZC Code of Conduct applicable to players and team officials. According to a statement released by ZC, both individuals tested positive for a prohibited recreational substance. This finding emerged from an out-of-competition doping test conducted internally by ZC.
Regarding their cricket careers, Mavuta has represented Zimbabwe in a total of 26 matches across different formats, with his latest appearance being in a game against Ireland on December 17.
Madhevere, who has significantly more international experience with nearly 100 matches for Zimbabwe, was not selected for the recent ODI series against Ireland. The suspensions of these two players mark a notable incident in Zimbabwean cricket, especially given their contributions to the national team.
